NB: There are several inaccuracies/inconsistencies
within this report. While the details of Charles Aufrichtig and his date of
death are accurate, there are mistakes over the name of his brother and married
name of one of his sisters. Charles G Aufrichtig was one of four children born
to Alois Aufrichtig and Jennie Aufrichtig (née
Jenny Lederer). The others were
Hannah Aufrichtig, referred to in the obituary notice as Mrs M Linton; an
un-named daughter (Elsa Aufrichtig) given as Mrs Silverstein of Terre Haute; and Albert A
Aufrichtig. It is assumed that the Terre Haute Tribune has printed Alfred
Aufrichtig instead of Albert Aufrichtig.
The 1920 Census, however, lists Jennie Aufrichtig as the mother-in-law of Mike Lentin, and Hannah Lentin as his wife. The Tribune has incorrectly given the name as "Linton". This same Census provides correct details for the widowed 28 years old Edith Aufrichtig, with a daughter and son. The Tribune report should have read "survived by ... two children..." and not "sons". |
