Edith was just 20 years old when she married Charles Grover Aufrichtig. Charles died in 1918, leaving her a widow, aged 26, and with a son Alois Alvin Aufrichtig, aged five, and daughter, Bernice Aufrichtig, three. Five years later in 1923, she married 29 years old Rudolph Stulz, three years her junior. Rudolph adopted Alois and Bernice, whose names were then changed from Aufrichtig to Stulz.

Edith was widowed a second time with the death of Rudolph on 8 June 1948.
