Wallace Aufrichtig, 68, self-employed carpenter

SOMERVILLE -- Wallace George Aufrichtig, 68, died Wednesday (Jan. 19, 2000) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Neshanic before moving to Somerville 44 years ago.

He was a self-employed carpenter who owned Wallace Construction for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a lance corporal from 1952 to 1954.

His first love was working with wood. Mr. Aufrichtig was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Somerville, a member of Emmanuel Reformed Episcopal Church of Somerville and was very active in the church, serving as the junior and senior warden of church; chairman of house committee; an usher; and was twice on the committee to search for a new pastor. He was also on the ad hoc committee of Somerville Board of Health for new schools.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara VanFleet Aufrichtig; his daughters, Dorothy Marbach and husband William III of Rahway and Helen Myslinski and husband Douglas of Bridgewater; his brothers, Ronald Aufrichtig of Tampa Bay, Fla., and Ralph Aufrichtig of Colorado; his sisters, Lorraine Trani of Newbern, N.C., and Elyce Aldridge of Bartow, Fla.; grandchildren, John Maj and wife Maria of Somerville, Wallace Marbach of Rahway and Alexander Myslinski of Bridgewater; and great-grandson, Sean Maj of Somerville.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel Reformed Episcopal Church, 100 Grant Ave., Somerville.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Speer Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 10 West End Ave., Somerville.
