Eduard Charap was the second of the three children born to Gisela Wodak and Moses [Moshe/Max] Charap, and the younger brother of Rudolf Charap. Little was known of Eduard until 2009 when, thanks to the social networking website, Facebook, contact was made between Eduard's daughter, Mercedes Charap, and Rudolf's daughter, Freda Charap. Mercedes, who lives in Belgium, has provided the documentation and photographs reproduced on this page. She was just 10 months old when her father was imprisoned in Le Vernet, where he died aged 25. Prior to his deportation, Eduard was living at Ybbsstrasse 44/28, Vienna 1020.He is buried in the cemetery at Du Haut Vdernet à Perpignan.
